Here are a few of my early shots with my new 20D with a Sigma 70-300 APO Super II lens.

And here are a couple more - cropped from the originals in both cases and the bird in flight had some unsharp masking... He and his mate had a nest in the Saguaro cactus on the right side of the image.

Oh wow! Nice shots Jim! Is #2 a roadrunner? and #3 is a woodpecker, right? They are beautiful.

#2 is definitely not a roadrunner - not sure exactly but he's smaller than a roadrunner. #3 is a woodpecker as is #4.

Funny thing about #3 - I spent about an hour roaming around in the desert trying to get a good shot of some of the birds in the area and found the nest that #4 was in, but never got terribly close. As I was packing my stuff back into the car getting ready to leave, I looked up and not 30 feet away was that woodpecker hanging on the cactus! I still had my zoom on the camera so I was able to get some pix of the bird - the closest shots of the day.
