I was driving down a major street this week when i happened to notice an abandoned shack. I pulled in to get a few shots and started walking around. apparantly it was some old trailer park or campground as there were various electrical boxes where each site would be. found a bunch of old stuff there, turned into a pretty interesting place.

Interesting stuff. I like the b&w bike and love the old typewriter...it does have a great feel of abandonment. The colored bike is a little too blue-green on my monitor here at work but it is an old monitor.... hard to gage the accuracy of the color. You might tone down the saturation a tad if you see what I see. I love the old hose post...it just tells a story from the angle you shot it from.....
I can't tell what the 4th one is tho, can you clue me in?

the fourth one is an old metal thing. not quite sure what it was exactly but i just thought it had an interesting design, texture and color. Its actually my favorite of the bunch for some reason. yeah the bike is a bit oversaturated, I was kinda going for that look. ill tone it down and repost, maybe youll like it a little better. I actually did about 10 different post finishes to these shots, but i wanted to show a range of different ideas, as my head seems to swim with all of the ideas i have as far as colors and such. Thanks for taking time to critique this stuff, it means alot coming from someone as talented as you. :)

thanks for the compliment. i always shoot in raw so bascially all of teh changes were done in the raw editor of photoshop. I cant remember what i did for each one, but i had an idea in my head and kept fiddling with the colors till it matched what i wanted. The black and white was done with a custom filter for photoshop.:)

You are very kind. I am an amateur just like most of us here on the forum and I learn a lot from everyone here every day. Some days I do much better than others but I LOVE being behind the camera. You look like you are pretty talented yourself.....keep those creative thoughts swirling and keep posting your photos.

so i redid the color version of the bike (toned it down a bit) and added a b&w of it too. though i usually love black and white, i think the bike gets lost in the bushes on this one. let me know what you think.thanks.

I prefer the bike in color and toned down too. :):)

The third picture is awesome. Something about it draws me into it.

Very cool pictures, the feeling of abandonment comes through the images very well.......the B&W impart a feeling of sadness, whereas colour one of the hose hook has a peaceful feel, very enjoyable.

thanks. really funny that you should say that. sometimes when you have an idea for a picture, your results dont even come close to your expectations. i originally set out to take pictures of 2 things i saw from the road. needless to say they both did not meet what i had imagined. then i took some pictures of stuff that i thought i was almost wasting my time on. the hose hanger and the metal thing (the shot after the hose hanger) to name two. well when i brought it up on my computer, i was glad i had taken the shots, as they were much better than expected. my friend at work is a painter and she is loves that shot too. i agree the subject is somewhat boring, but i think the texture of the rust and grass is pretty cool. and the slight glow on the grass looks pretty cool. imho. :)

Number 3 shows a nice use of DOF to augment the subject. It's also a nicely balanced, well composed capture. I'm not usually a big fan of major alterations, but I might experiment with removing the OOF "wispies" in the upper left. Their removal probably isn't crucial, though.

Exactly. I just don't know if it makes it any better. If it doesn't, then leave it. It's toss up. It's nice image with or without the wispy.

These are really incredible. They all have a nice, "film" quality to them that is rare in a digital image. They look an awful lot like actual darkroom photos I've seen when you play with the color a bit.
great job!

thanks. to tell you the truth most of the changes were made in raw editor of cs2. I have some custom filters that i ran some of them through, i cnat remember the name of them but they are pretty easy to use. if you interested pm me and ill get the info for you. thanks for taking the time to look.:)
