Hi
My grip has been acting up a bit lately, the select af-point button has stopped working. I took off the grip and noticed one of the golden pins not popping back out along with the others (as I assume it should..). I've attached a photo of the top of the grip.
What can I do myself to fix the thing?
Thanks :)

If pressing down on it with a small blunt and clean object (a toothpick or stylus, no pens or pencils) doesn't cause it to pop back up, there won't be much short of disassembly, and unless it's well out of warranty you don't want to go there. If it pops up, you might want to eraser-clean the contacts.

I tried pressing down on it, but to no avail. Warranty is long gone so I guess I'll try taking it apart.

if you are going to disassemble it took a look here http://f20c.com/stuff/canon/partslist/
download the parts pdf from the eos D30, the BG-ED3 is on page 38 of that manual.
this might help you in the proces

That could come in handy if I take it apart, thank you :)

Well, I couldn't resist it anymore and got naughty... I got a tiny nail and started poking at the connection pin and the surrounding plastic and then - pop! Horray! Out went the stuck pin and the grip is working! Sometimes you just have to do what you're not supposed to do :)
Now I just have to figure out if I want to use the camera for a while without the grip or if I have to put the E1 strap back on. I wish it weren't such a pain to mount/dismount :(
