Thanks! They actually made it through that wave but with a boat full of water. Great sport to watch when there is a big surf running.

I used the 100-400! It is an awesome lens. It's on my 50D most of the time.

I only got the 400 2.8 about 2 months ago and have only used it once at a club rugby match. I get to use it soon though at the World Masters Games in Sydney in October (Lucky I do part time work for a Magazine, so a could get a Media Pass)

Summer is just around the corner here so I'll see how the 400 2.8 will go when the surfboats are back on the water.

So what, do these guys race each other out through the breaking waves? Awesome shots in any case.

Hi All,

What the go is, is that Surfboats race out throught the surf 400 meters turn a set of bouys and race back to the shore to the start/finish line. There are a maximum of 7 boats per race.

some of the best action happens on the way back in when they catch the waves (see below).

The rowers (woman included, see below) all wear swim costumes (Dick pointers, Budgie smugglers, call them what you like) they pull them up their backsides so that they can slide up and down the seats easier.
