With my new sigma 18-200mm OS lens, my 450d has grown in weight.

Does anyone know of a good padded neck strap because the standard one just isn't comfortable for prolonged use.

Thanks

You might take a look at Optech straps.

I've been using Optech for several years and all my straps have the quick release buckles. I've never had one come undone, even with my heaviest gear.

Anyone used the Lowepro range of neck straps?

Seems to come down to three choices. These are :

1) Crumpler Industry Disgrace
2) Lowepro Voyager C
3) Optech Pro Strap

They all seem roughly the same price.

So cast your votes and choose my strap for me. Thanks

I have had 4 POTN Optech straps for 4 years and the quick release has never failed me. I carry 2 cameras at events and the quick release is a must, and that's holding up a 5D2 with 70-200 2.8 IS on one and the 40D with 24-70 on the other. They wouldn't have such a good reputation if the quick release was faulty.

+1 Vote. Never experienced any problems with release.

is the strap with the buckles too bulky when folded and stuffed in with the bag?

one body has the free smugmug strap that i reaalllly like
and my other body has the canon strap thats gonna get replaced by the optech ez strap

The quick release buckles are quite small and unobtrusive. No problem in the bag.

I use the pacsafe 100 (http://www.pac-safe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=16). I have had many straps over the years and the physical size of the padding on the optech drove me nuts. The optech is padded so it is quite confortable, but not so large on your neck.

+1 for the Crumpler ID. Feels very good on the neck and shoulder with my 40D + 70-200 f/4 IS. It's also very breathable.

I have and have been using 3 OpTech Pro Loop straps for years, no problems. Woudn't use anything else. Available here at the POTN support shop!

whats the backing like on the pro loop?

i got my optech EZ strap and find it not grippy enough

i also have the smugmug strap ... and i want a strap to be as grippy as the smugmug
something with better build quality than the smugmug too
