Hey. I recently purchased Manfrotto 055xprob and Manfrotto 488RC2 combo and I am having issues with it. I am pretty sure its user error but I am not sure what else I can do to minimize this. I am getting a lot of blurry pictures and when I try to do HDR shots most of the time consecutive pictures are not aligned. My setup is 5D with a cable release. I already tried mirror lockup with not much help. I open the tripod to the first click and sometimes to the second. The shutter speed is around 3-10sec. There is some wind but I tried to take pictures from the room with same results. The percentage of blurry pictures is pretty high. I can understand when I change the shutter speed for hdr shots and the camera might slightly move but I tried to take consecutive shots with out changing anything or even touching the camera and a lot times the pictures are not aligned.
I am on vacation in Chicago and Wisconsin trying to do pano/hdr and it’s very frustrating.

Please let me know if you have any tips or suggestions

Thank you very much in advance!

Sounds like your manualy changing the settings yourself!?

its sounds rather odd!

are you using "Brackerting" in the camera menu?

Thank you very much for the quick responses! I am using a netbook and I can’t convert raw files right now but I was able to host them on my webhost. Here are the links to the 2 raw files. http://yanz.net/pic1.zip http://yanz.net/pic2.zip Please save it as cr2 files for some reason godaddy doesn’t let me link to .cr2 I had to rename it to .zip. It’s a bit late to figure out why. Let me know if there is an issue opening these files. These shots are not in succession but have the same settings. One is blurry one is not and I don’t think I was doing anything different.
Please let me know what you think.

Thanks again!

Can it be your using the 24-105 and leaving IS on?
Try turning IS off and see if that helps.

KC Thank you very much!!! I think you saved hours and hours of pain and aggravation!!! I did some search and found more about IS and different version of it. 24-105 does not have tripod IS and it has to be turned off. It's in the manual and i think i read it loooong time ago. After reading your thread i had a ohh SH*T :) moment. Sorry for my language.

I think i still have issue with HDR and picture is moving a bit with each shot but i have to try different technique or something but for now every other shot is not blurry.

Thanks again!!!

Yan
