I've noticed that a lot of portrait studios, and my local photo lab, offer a sheet of wallet prints at 8 per sheet. When I print them at home, I get 9 per sheet.

Curious, I inquired at the photo lab. They indicated that they print the wallets out at the "proper" size of 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". I went back and looked at what I was printing and they were 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Then, I pulled a wallet photo out of my wallet and it is also 3 1/4" x 2 1/4", and just barely fits into my men's wallet clear photo sleeves.

Being the nosy person I am, I asked another lab and the response was that, yes, the wallets are actually larger than a typical wallet photo holder, but that they expected most people would simply trim the picture to fit the wallet sleeve.

Hello. Asking your customer to do cropping after the print? What am I missing here?

Looks as if that lab is angling for customers with bigger wallets. ;-)
