Anyone?

Special IR filter maybe?

Or special settings?

Not sure exactly what you mean by "improve" if you mean the shakiness try resting it on a little beanbag. Let us know what your problem is though :)

Thanks for the bean bag suggestion. I tried to "fake" a tripod recently at night--tried valiantly to use an iron fence as a base for the camera. Cold hands, cold and narrow metal bars...didn't work well at all. A bean bag would have helped tremondously.

Ever thought of using one of the mini-tripods?

There are some (e.g. hama) about the size of a large ball-point-pen composed of 3 rather flexible legs that can be bent into the position you need.

Fit right into your pocket, can be used on top of most more or less level surfaces.

Regards,

Andy

also might wanna raise the ISO settings. some people say there is too much noise, but I think it really depends on the picture, and your own taste. try it out, and you might be surprised.

I don't like to carry a tripod, but I've been getting acceptable shots with a careful handholding. Digital is so sensitive that with you can sometimes get by with 1 second shutter.

This was a handheld with elbows braced on my chest.

Bigpow:

I just got back from vacation in San Juan where I did some nite shots. I got great results using a tabletop tripod (I use a Leitz). I can always find bench, lamppost or tree trunk to push it against. Push it down firmly and slowlyyyy PRESS the shutter release.
