How do you deal with it in post? Ever had someone C&C a photo and was just totally like WTF were you thinking? Me and my boss are both color blind we both see colors were just not calibrated the same. I am just curious on how many of us are out there taking photos.

About 15% of men are color blind to some degree. I'm one of them. The degree and colors are all different.

Not many are totally color blind - just see shades of gray.

Very few women are color blind.

I've known I'm color blind for 40+ years or so - couldn't see the damn numbers in their circles at an employment physical. Still got the job. :-)

My wife and daughter have very accurate color vision and I've asked them if anything is wrong with my PP - they both say no. I figured I'd have overemphasized green and blue, but I guess not.

But unless they're in sunlight, I have real trouble telling the difference between the brown garbage bin and the green lawn-trash bin...

Strange, isn't it?

One of my photo teachers was color blind and he seemed to be able to teach color management ok. No idea how he could do it but he did.

I'm color blind, I can't see the numbers in the circles (red/green blindness) and I have trouble with shades of colors. Dark blue, black, brown, dark purple, dark green are terrible for me. As are the opposite end of the color scheme... white, yellow, pink, etc. Now, show me blue, red, green, yellow, the primary colors and I have no problem. But subtle colors elude me most of the time.

I *REALLY* like to do shots in black and white because of this. :) My wife gets pissed at me because I do too many (in her opinion) shots of our kids in black and white.

I need to see if I can find an assistant who has good color capabilities. I just hired a second photographer, so I need to test his color :)

Im blind in my right eye if that counts for anything. Darn detached retinas. I smudge my screen every time I shoot since I have to cross my face for the left eye shot.

Just make friends with ppl who are not colour deficient. (I hate the term colour blind, ppl who don't know assume you see in B&W :P)

Just let your wife know that B&W shots are far more enduring & endearing.

Oh I tell her lots of these things but then she goes on and on about my daughters beautiful blue eyes and such. I have to take her word for it. They look greenish/gray to me.

I'm color blind as well, couldn't see the numbers in the circles. I have a hard time distinguishing between very dark shades of green, blue, and black. I also sometimes mix up blue and purple, and green and orange.

Somehow, my pictures are fine though. My girlfriend checks them and aways tells me they're fine.

Me, too, as mentioned above. Don't you think that's strange? Shouldn't we be overcompensating on the colors we don't see well?

Heck, I'm color blind, wear a hearing aid, and had lasik years ago, but my fingers and brain still work together and I was just offered a contract renewal at the college I shoot for.

I also have the "normal" colour blindness for men (can't distinguish between very light shades of cyan and magenta), bit it's never made much difference to me.

i am also color "blind" i mess up red and green. I am curious how this will affect my photos. I did some editing in PS, changing the color of my jeep so i could decide how to paint it and i thought it was blue.... turned out to be pink  but i think that hopefully for PP i wil be fine because as long as the pic looks the same to me, as in real life it "should" be correct???? who knows i sure hope this is not a hobby that i cant succeed at because of my stupid eyes.

There's lots of color blind photographers, me included. Somehow I don't mess up my photos. I dunno. I highly doubt you're eyes will make you not succeed in photography. And I mean, if all else fails, shoot black and white :)

Check out posts 10 and 11 in this thread.

I would think my R/G color blindness would cause me to produce strange results when editing, but people with good color vision say it doesn't.

Which is strange, but fine with me.

thanks, im sure i will be fine. i dont think im that bad, my GF says i am... but what does she know lol. It does get in the way sometimes at work though. i make countertops and i have mixed laminates that are the same pattern but different colors. I also think some colors are exagerated because i have seen differences in dyelots that everyone else says are fine.... it sure would be wierd to see through other peoples eyes sometimes :D

My biggest issue is playing a game were you have green and yellow bubbles to pop and you don't know which is which. That is the only problem I have had so far.

I'm in as well. I'm color vision defecient in the red/greens. (circles in the book, small blinking LED's, light gun from the tower, failed them all.) That cost me a job as a USAF firefighter, so I ended up in the job I'm in now. It all worked out for the best though so I really can't complain. I've never really thought about it affecting my post processing work.
