Nice capture! There is a slight blue haze over the entire image, though, that can be remedied with a quick curves adjustment. Increase the level of blacks in there, too, while you're at it... just a bit! Looks good!

Neat image
needs a tight crop (my own two cents)
the background is working against such a great capture

The background is just too much IMO.

I agree... background kills the shot... and I am also not a big fan of HDR but it would have worked on this old bike for me...

Great processing of the bike!

Ah, we're back on track, in agreement again.
Yes, toning down the brightness and saturation of the background would make that bike pop something fierce.

Just for future reference, a quick background fix is to gain or lose elevation. In this case you might have been able to grab that red chair in the background and stand on it, thus making the floor your background.

It's not a very interesting picture, to be honest. It just looks like a snapshot run through photomatix. The background is very busy and it's in focus enough to cause a distraction. There's no separation between subject and background.
It's very static and flat.
I think you'd have been better off taking the picture from a more extreme angle, or at least composing it in a way that hid as much of the background as possible.
