These are remarkable pictures....
I was one of the many who was swithering between the S45 and G3 and eventually opted for the S45 mainly due to its compact size. In the back of your mind you always think about what you may be missing out from not having the G3. These picture prove to me I made the right choice, saved a fair amount of cash and get image quality that compares to the more expensive model.

But can I live without the tilt and swivel LCD!!!!......

I know the feeling exactly. I was very undecided about the S45 and G3, and to say the truth, I had also considered the Olympus C50Z and the new Minolta F300 - both 5mp cameras. Is it OK to mention other brands on this forum? :-)

But my main priority was portability and I figured that with the same number of pixels, the quality should be very similar if not identical. I finally opted for the S45; which I've had for only 2 days. This weekend I'll be shooting like hell!

I am very new to digital photography and I am very grateful to you and jle56 for sharing your fears with us.
You have put my mind at rest that the prints will be indistinguishable from those with a G3.

But that swivelling screen..... maybe on the S55??!!
