Still learning on the D30. Guess I'll wear it out before moving on - or so my girlfriend hopes ;)

I clicked on the 10D but seriously thought of lying and clicking on the 1DsMkII. Better judgement said you were asking which camera we "have", not which camera I'd sell my wife and kids for ... sorry, a guy can have a fantasy, can't I?

10D is still working GREAT. For THAT matter, so is the ole G-5. ;)

Is there a similar poll on L glass? Or can't a poll handle more than one item input? Nevermind.

The one that started the rush to DSLR - the 300D!

Just for trivia, last year's poll was "which is your 'main' camera?" instead of which camera do you use.
I use 1DsMkII as my main camera, but I use 10D occasionally when I travel and my D60 on rare occasions where I know I might be risking my camera when I leave home (as opposed to finding out I get to take pictures of parajumpers after I get to the airshow with only my 1DsMkII).

Thanks for pointing this out. Unfortunately, I don't think I can change it now.....

I believe many 20D owners also have the 300D.

I am still using my good old 10D and it's still a great camera. My only complaint about it is that it is a bit slow sometimes - slow to switch on and slow to review images right after shooting a few.
When there's going to be a successor to the 20D with at least 11 MP (maybe next year?), I'm going to retire my 10D.

20D and D60. The 20D gets the longer lens of the two I'd be using so I have extra "crop potential" from the higher resolution. Plus, I'm more likely to be taking bursts with the longer lens and the 20D's better for that.

Saving for a 20D to use together with the XT. I do not like changing lenses and prefer to have 2 bodies with different lenses. I am planning for a Bigma on one side and the 10-22 on the other, now I have the XT and the 10-22 and I am very close to the necessary saving for the Bigma. After that, will have to start again... hmmmm... gotta find a quicker way !!!! :D

Wow, sounds like a perfect combo....I wish I could have a 2nd body, as I hate changing lenses. However, I think I would wait until I am totally comfortable with my 20D before I jump onto something else.

Easy solution to that. Jump to another 20D. If I have had the 20D since the beginning, I will have no doubts. But at this point, wanting a second body, I do not feel like going for another XT.
But wait... I can always sell th XT and get TWO D20s... I am sure I do not need any of the single digit bodies, but having two identical bodies helps a lot, im ny experience, plain an simple because the only thing that changes is the lens mounted and you do not have to "remember" what body you have in hand. I have a terrible experience with my pentax, I had an MX then I got an ME Super... I ended up buying another ME...
Hmmmm... I predict a hard time for my credit card... :(

Canon 1D and I am not sure if I can ever go back to a non-1 series camera!!

Hehe ... that's exactly the way Canon has planned this.
Seems like the 20D was quite popular recently. (or is it that just the newer forum members are voting ??? )
I'm interested in a more representative picture ... everybody, vote!
Best regards,
Andy

That's the way to go.........sell your xt and get 20Dx2.....it would surely satisfy your needs.....;) ;) :)

It looks like about half of the people are using 20D, which is expected. What surprised me is the nubmer of 1 series users. I thought there would be more people using the 1's.
Anymore vote?? Really want to see the true distribution......

I got a 10d from a friend who realised he couldn't take pictures (sound familiar?).
I probably would not have gone for a 30 or 60, unless they were for peanuts. The 10d was very cheap – my suggested figure – but if it had been a 1ds or whatever the latest and greatest is and it was cheap, I would have bought that.
Truth is, it's whatever is cheap and not too far behind the cutting edge.

I bought the 300D back in Spetember, and it's served (and is serving) me well.
But what would be the next, natural progression upgrade for someone who doesn't want to spend thousands on a body? Would the 20D be considered an upgrade? Would my lenses (listed below) all work with it?

Yes it would. And yes You can use all You lenses. Thats the good thing about SLR. You can gradually build a collectiong of quality lenses and upgrade the body from time to time.
I had a 300D before I got my 20D and it is an upgrade that was worth it for me. Main points for me was that 20D is faster and the limitaions 300D has the 20D does not have. For example the ability to select between AI Servo, AI Fokus and On shot fokus something that is tricky on 300D even with the hack.

It seems that nearly all 1D owners have upgraded to Mark II. Good to see D30 on the list. I actually miss mine :)
