Help getting this vapor cone to show better

If somebody wants to edit the fullsize shot for me that would be fantastic. It must be able to show up in print. Any advice is helpful.

Just playing with Levels in CS4 gives this:

How's this?
Layers from the bottom are:
Original (hidden)
Highlight and shadow adjusted
Curves to enhance contrast and expand midtones
Inverted desaturated layer with middling opacity to further tweak highlights/shadows
Painting layer to fill in the empty sky areas (blurred)
Hue and sat to remove lilac cast to clouds and drop saturation a bit
Final brightness and contrast tweak.

I wouldn't touch the image it looks fine and is yet another example of the dynamics of atmosphere and motion
