Hi all, this is a shot i took near the city centre of some distant houses.. it's a crop of a 200mm shot. There was a lot of smog clouding the shot so i've tried to clean it up as much as possible. Any C&C would be most welcome. I haven't really cleaned up photos before so just played around with the contrast and shadows/highlights in photoshop until it cleared up somewhat.

I'm thinking of getting this one printed on stretched canvas

wow... like the shot... can't imagine the poverty there... it looks pretty crowded and miserable... did a good job capturing it

Photo taken near the Presidential Palace?

It's not THAT crowded. It's a telephoto lens that compresses distance. A typical Genevan apartment block has higher density. But it IS poor. That neighborhood was assembled without regard to any building code. Don't know if I'd say it is miserable. I've been to poorer sections of Ethiopia, Yemen, India and Rio de Janeiro favelas where I encounter many people who on average appear to be happier than many people I encounter in urban Europe and North America. It's about outlook, attitude. Visit one of the these places and you'll be taught invaluable lessons.

I like the PP in after shot but the cropping in the 1st. It seems to give it a bigger perspective.

Philmar: good eye there! it was indeed taken just behind the Presidential Palace

TheLaird: I also prefer it without a crop but the lighting/electricity poles detract from it slightly.. i might try a different crop later tonight.

I also have this other photo taken at 154mm
