Just wondering if any of you have used them before and what is your opinion ?
I need to get some casters....

I have a set and don't really like them, all that much. They just don't roll smoothly, no matter how I attach them to the stand. Others may have a different experience. ;)

I believe the tripod legs on Alien Bees stands are a standard size but I'm not sure what size. If they are the same size as any of the Impact light stands then the Impact casters are a good option. Otherwise, Bogen has a great selection of casters that are of excellent quality.

Ugh, I had a whole thing typed up and lost it.
Take two...
I bought the Impact casters for the Impact 9.5ft HD cusion stand.
The picture on BH's site was differant than what I got in that the site showed allen head screws and the one I got had t wing screws, a bonus.
However, the inserts that came with the caseter had a dimple on it.
I'm guessing this is so the casters can only be installed a certain way and not twist or be put on incorrectly.
Problem is my Impact 9.5ft stand does not have a whole where the dimple would line up.
Maybe those with the same impact stand can see if they have a whole on the bottom side of their stand. (Robert?)
I only point this out as what BH showed on their site was not what is in the box so just be aware.
On a final note, the casters work fine, just the annoying num puts a scratch and a ding on my stands... :)

There is no hole for the dimple. It is designed to press against and make an impression in the leg. That is what keeps it from rotating. None of the Impact stands have an alignment hole.

Thank you!
That being the case, I'd say the Impact casters being real nice and I like I can easily pull the casters off because of the "T" screw design.
Not to mention moving a large modifier easy.
The AB Casters work with all the AB stands via an included insert.

So if you go with an Impact type caster for your AB, you have to order the proper size.
If you go AB, once size fits all. (Simplest solution for your AB stand.)
With Impact, I believe they have a 25mm and a smaller one, so just be aware if you go that route.
Looking at the pic on the AB manual, the Impact's look like a better caster, but spec's do change so.
Thank for your info Robert...

Im also looking for a cheaper alternative to the AB casters ($40 for set of 3). These are Impact 22mm casters ($28.95) and 25mm casters ($32.50)but am unsure if they will fit the HD AB stands. I will need at least 2 sets of casters and would love to save money.

If your Alien Bees light stand accepts 25mm casters then you're more than welcome to a set of Impact 1025 casters that I don't use any more. If you're interested just let me know. Cover the shipping from NY to IL and and they're yours.
