1st wedding this weekend :)

Hello,

My GF is a wedding photographer and she is taking me along on 2 of her weddings in the next few weeks to see if it is something that i enjoy, if i do it could turn into being her second photographer at weddings, any tips on anything? i am not too worried as my gf will be the one taking the pictures that really matter, but it is still the whole nervous excited thing :)

Don't get in the way, don't distract people by pointing a 2nd camera at them, and don't forget to take the lens cap off :p

You made me laugh Tim.....I have tried to take shots with the cap on myself.

Seriously definately stay out of you girlfriends way and dont take the same shots as her...try to take you photos from a different angle...while your girlfriend is taking her posed shots grab a few side on of the couple or from behind (out of the line of her shot of course) get on a chair, rock or even in a tree ..you may be surprised at how nice shots can be when they dont really know you are taking them.
If they are laughing with friends or giving a child a cuddle.. look out for these moments and be ready to photograph them.
My daughter is my assistant and 2nd shooter and she comes up with some amazing shots.

Yep - stay out of her way - take different angles that complement her work - dont distract the people she is trying to photograph. Maybe take some photojournalistic shots - less posed and more natural shots in a creative way.

Relax - be comfortable with your camera- talk and compliment those you are photographing to get them comfortable with you and your camera - relax - if you are relaxed- comfortable and confident the people you are photographing will be relaxed also.
