Hi all.
I'm very interested in this type of photography and am wondering if anyone who does it would mind someone (i.e. me!) shadowing them for a day. I'm keen to learn and think this would be a great way to do so... please feel free to leave your thoughts about this request, or even PM me.
Thanks.
PS. This is a genuine request.

You know - if my dream of moving from Brisbane to Christchurch comes to fruition, I may even ask you if I could tag along!!! Hell - even if I was on a holiday it would be a dream come true to watch or even shoot a wedding in NZ!

I was kinda being sarcastic, since the OP didn't say where in the world they are. I do occasionally take people out with me, people make the best light stands - they're voice activated ;)
I do have a Fri/Sat combo in Feb that my assistant's away for though, so i'll need someone for that.

oh - sorry, I missed that... maybe later?

Your best bet is to contact some local togs directly imo, preferably those whose work/business that you admire.
I say this because personally I would never arrange to take some random person from the net along to a wedding without meeting them first and establishing that taking them along wouldn't be a problem, whether because of how they looked or how they conducted themselves.

That's actually pretty funny Tim - you familiar with Don Rickles? Truly one of the classics .

Funny, and true :) One of my assistants main jobs is to help with lighting.

The OP has untitled as his name, so I don't know how likely I would be to have him/her help me. Please give a few details about your location so it is a real request. Giving no information does not help. I always has second shooter with me, and would not mind teaching, as most have been eager to join my fun. But if you are serious about this request, you'd be much more forthcoming.

lol... that is a good one. You could say that a lot (living in NZ like you do).

Okay Tim, you got me! I live in London!! I'd love to come out to NZ, not just to take you up on your offer though. I work with a Kiwi and the picture they've painted of New Zealand, it's now one of the places I definitely want to visit.
suzy and jon... both valuable bits of info there. To suzy, I went with "untitled" as a moniker as I couldn't think of anything else when I set up this account. And this is definitely a serious request. I'm even looking to do this very cheaply as I really just want to learn (around my day job of course!) and think this is a great forum to meet people who might be able to help in that regard.

If you post something in the lounge about shooting with someone in the UK, you may get a few bites. I take seconds along now, but I don't get paid, so anyone shooting with me, will do it for free.

Thanks again Suzy. Yeah, I guess initially it makes sense to do it for free... I'll check out the lounge and take it from there.

You could join in on the UK SE Thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=724927) too - we're often meeting up for shoots and there are plenty of londoners there. One or two wedding togs in there (me included). I would offer to take you on some weddings but I'm still finding my own feet so wouldn't be comfortable doing that yet.
