You know they're cute, c'mon admit it...you just thought to yourself "awww".

Out trying to learn with my 200mm 2.8L, shot wide open in aperature priority at ISO 100 with their parents hissing at me for being too close. Only PP was to crop it a bit.

Amazing shot. I love all of it:
* the geese are cute
* they are sharp as can be
* the background blur is super.
* Love the tone; especially how the top left background color matches the geese head yellowish color.

Very balanced!Great shot!

I've gone out looking for these guys twice now, probably a total of 50 shots or so and I got maybe 3 keepers. I think this one made the trips worth it tho. My unofficial testing of this lens shows that it is considerably sharper at f/4 than 2.8 so I'm gonna give that a shot next time I make it out there.

Beautiful shot, one to have printed for sure. Soft focus where it needs to be, sharp where it needs to be.

Formula4speed and all the other bird shooters out there with the long lenses -
Do you usually shoot in servo mode when taking these or set it to one-shot? I would think as long as you have the subject in your sites you'd just fire away maybe a half dozen. Would love to know!
Oh yeah, and that's a great photo Formula4Speed! Nice job. Were you lying on the ground when you took it? How far away were the geese?

I'm not usually into bird shooting, as my 200mm is the longest thing I have right now and its normally not long enough. That was shot in 1 shot mode, if I was thinking I probably would've thrown it into AI servo. I was actually shooting on a tripod, but the geese were on a hill so the angle worked out in my favor and they weren't very far from me at all...if I had to guess I'd say I got within 10 feet of them at times which the parents didn't like very much.
