I have a 1541t Gitzo, and I thought I had tightened the top plate using pressure on the knurled edge. But in the field, I noticed it turning under the ball head.
How does everyone tighten that part before screwing on the ballhead?

Thanks, Ed. The blue loctite was the answer.

Hmm, Blue Loctite?! Not sure I've come across that in the UK. What makes it different from normal Loctite?

There is green, blue, and red Loctite. The red forms the strongest bond and is almost permanent - very, very difficult to separate (heat and tools required). Blue is the next strongest bond and is the one that most people use on their gear, as it is very strong, but can be separated.

Curiously, blue Loktite comes in a red tube, at least here in the UK! Makes no sense but what do I know?
I use it under my M10 and between the M10 and my RRS lever QR clamp.

Huh, I have never had that come loose. Thats odd. But if you arent removing it regularly through a little blue loctite on it and it'll never bother you again.
