Hello,
I'd like to know what are the cons of the D60 ?
(i.e.: bad AF in low light, ..)
Thanks a lot

You will find many posts on this forum listing D60 Cons. It is a great camera for what it is, it has some faults and many will say this makes it a piece of junk. Others will say it is awesome.
It is all about how you plan on using it. If you expect champagne, but you can only afford wine, don't be mad if there are no bubbles in your glass.
I have found the auto-focus to be sub-par compared to my Canon A2E or Ellan in low light. The al-servo focus is a bit slower also.
But you must understand that I am always shooting subject at the limits of my lenses and iso setting. So I can't slam the camera too much, I would have far worse problems with film.
It seems that when I have plenty of light and pay attention to focus a littl emore than I had with my film bodies, all will be fine.
I also shoot the D60 for sports, becasue I can't afford a $5000 camera. So I get what I pay for... But I am overall happy. I get the shots, I can use all my EOS lenses, and get the instant gratification of digital shooting.
Maybe one day I will afford a D1s or whatever is the fastest model, but until then I will try and do my best with the D60.
I find the 1000 asa to be very usable. Some will say otherwise.
I have heard problems with using a flash and E-TTL metering, but I have not had that experience. I use a 380EX and have not had too many problems, I use it mainly as a fill flash.
Keep an open mind. My D60 beats my old point and shoot G1 by about 10,000%.

I agree with most of what was in the last post. My D60 is slow to focus in low light. Metering in back lit situations is not good. I have also had problems with the camera underexposing by about 1 stop when using the 550ex flash set to e-ttl.
Overall the camera produces great images but I wish Canon had a higher quality "guts" for the camera such as those from an Elan 7/7e or EOS-3.
It will be interesting to see what Canon announces at PMA in March. I'm hoping for a better camera but some say they will use an even cheaper body.

I own both the D30 and D60. Also have an Elan II but don’t use it much anymore. My findings on the D60:
- OK performance with AF in normal lighting conditions. Not great in low light.
- Good performance for sports assuming you have fast lenses and good lighting.
- Excellent for studio sessions with controlled lighting. Better than film and some would say better than medium format – I wouldn’t go that far but pretty close. I just completed several portrait sessions and enlarged to 20X30 and have to agree that the color and quality is awesome!

Concur with Dan...
It is best in the studio. Focus is ok in all but truly low light conditions. White balance needs to be watched a bit more then normal, but is not a problem. That's about it.
Remember the plus side!
Awsome flat..film-like looking images with superior flesh-tones and detail compared to the Nikon.
Tremendous lens selection.....
Super battery life (CMOS sensor)
Also, in raw mode- using Pekka's Linear sharpen action
for Photoshop, the results are nothing short of amazing.
Have fun-bob
