This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #215".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This game will end Sunday August 30th at 12:00 PM EST

Only 2 entries this time, where are all the people?
Lore, nice colors, but the sky under the sun and the water in light are blown: pity. Wrong crop: you ruined the rays on the left, and cut out the clouds, but left too much water (remember the rule of thirds; being a landscape with no foreground subject, only horizontal 3rds apply: 1 3rd water, 1 3rd light, 1 3rd clouds) and left space on the right that really adds nothing to the picture (from where the hill in the foreground goes above the horizon).
Tkbslc: the rays on the lower left are well defined, but the rays in the sky are lost as well as the clouds fringes.
Colors are blown: the clouds have a green shade that is unreal, the light is orange as at sunset, while the sun is still pretty high.
The light on the water is blown and it even "jumps up" from the waterline".
The calm waters in the foreground, which add to the pastoral feeling, are lost in darkness.
Too much noise resulted from the manipulations.

Lore, you're the winner this time! Congrats!

Hope next one will have more entries!
Sorry, got to run, no time to post my version

really... not being the one who shot that dark photo, it was a hard one to work with... really, I thought the bottom was sand, didnt even know it was water  to the left there is an area that looks like cracked sand... fooled me I guess... & the blown 'water' I now know, I had cloned out, then actually dodged back in, in a different spot if you look at the lighter area compared to the original, I liked the look, showing the intensity of the sun, it's what I was going for, I liked how the clouds turned out anyway...

bleh... k, well I'm tired... its past midnight I'll get one up in the AM. Hopefully there will be more than 2 entries.

I lied... 215 is up http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8553163#post8553163 ... now I sleep... zZZzzz :)

Congrats Lore - nice work!

Sorry I missed this round as well. I've been painting our deck, and it just never seems to end!

Nice to see that 215 is up and running already. Lore, do you have a high resolution shot of the kidsters?

Indeed I do, I was too tired to think to do that last night  & usually I just use Photobusket and offer up the largest it allows, this time I slapped it up on my website ( that I've held on to for 2 years and done nothing with  ;) ) but now it can come to you in full size :D, the link is above the photo.

Lore, you are a very talented photographer and photo editor. Don't let the grumpy people of the world ruin your day. I think you always do a great job on your edits in this thread. Keep up the good work.
