I have same combination, SIGMA EF-500 DG SUPER and CTR-301P and they both work together. if he has SIGMA EF-500 DG ST it will not work.. only the SUPER will work. I have also used the original PT-04 and Cactus v2s with the same flash and they both worked.

May be you are looking at the Nikon version. but I don't see any NIKON only on the link below, it also lists Canon, Nikon, Vivitar, Sunpak, National, Panasonic flashes and others. I have the SIGMA EF-500 DG SUPER for CANON. I will get you the link to that now...

This is the one I have in this link, even though it does not list the Sigma, it does work with mine.

Note: If you are not sure, send the seller on ebay an email to confirm if it works with Sigma EF-500 DG Super, because it works with mine and
I just tested it again right now with my Canon 400D/XTi and Canon 20D and synced best up to 1/200 to make sure I am not crazy.

Personally I would stay away from that junk. if you want to be serious spend more $ in this sort of product. You get what you pay for.

Pocket wizards are a must, for sure. Sold on eBay as well. For instance:

And if pocket wizards are too much, and your serious about off camera flash, check out Cybersyncs.

Another system I just came across with, 2 mins ago:

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/camera-studio-accessories/33855-review-flashwaves-radio-flash-trigger-after-7-months.html

Flashwaves. And another: http://www.alienbees.com/b800.html Alien Bees Monolights. Use two.
