A sneak preview of my new target.

100mins of the new target with a quick process in CS3. I still want to get another 4 hours or more before I am happy as want to get the finer details in the dark regions as well as more of the blue tint.

Can you guess what the target / object in the image below is ?

Winner gets bragging rights :)

A clue.

It is around the Cepheus region and is a faint Nebula that is hardly imaged.

Hmmm, I've never heard of "SH2-" objects before. But searching through a list I can only see one which resembles your image, but I'm sure it's not it.

Either way, that's a nice image...you're a bit like me I think, in that hunting out the more unusual objects is more satisfying than just imaging what a million other people have done already. :)

This will definitly be interesting to see when you add more detail so we can see the neb even more better !

BTW SH2-155 (http://www.astrophotos.net/pages/Nebula/sh2-155.htm) , The Cave Neb .

Gone through the Sharpless Catalog of the " Best" objects. Couldn't come close. Very hard to narrow things down, unless we have more detail as to plate scale etc. Nice shot but we do need the suspense broken :-)

Appears that we are all stumped. Answer please.

I think Celestron got it right, SH2-155.

I'm sure I looked at an image of the Cave Nebula and it didn't resemble Cat's pic at all, but it's what it is.

I rejected that one first time out. Checked again, and again but can't really tell. Need a "deeper" image.

Looks a lot like the IC1396A nebula.
