I have never really shot people before, but it is a growing intrest of mine. This is my first real attempt at a portrait with some set up lighting and planning. It came out somewhat decent, for a newb i guess. Lost more quality in the compression than i would have liked. :-|

cool shot. only thing i would recommend is to adjust the white balance as she seems too orange.

I like it! Has a "moody" feel to it.

Interesting angle on life....
Assuming you were going for the golden glow effect it came out quite nice. Only comment I would have is to do something about the light spot (your heel?) in the center background. The softness works very well.

Yeah. What type of lighting did you use?
I think you need to look at the white balance too.
A bit to orange I think.

Ya, I'm really liking this photo...the orange warms it up well and I can feel the dreamy thoughts of a young woman wondering about life...Very nice...keep up with the people shots !!

I like the orange one better.
For some reasons, on my (laptop) display, the edit looks a bit greenish (which is rather strange). Might be my display.
I like the original shot ... as was mentioned it's moody.
Only thing I don't like too much is that her face seems to be a bit out of focus. But that's just because I'm a follower of the old the-eyes-must-be-sharp-school.
Best regards,
Andy

thanks for all the comments and advice.
The lighting setup was very simple. I had a small desktop type lamp to the left of the frame, and that was the only light i used, there was some ambient background light coming through the window in the room, but not much. Talk about a ghetto studio setup....
As far as the orange tint goes, i messed with the white balance in ps and got about the same results as smittymike. I'll have to decide witch version i like better.

I love the pose and the face is perfect, my only comment would be the the reflection on the models hair is very intense and a little distracting, that may be due to using a desk lamp, I don't know. Regarding green there is something going on on the top and bottom of her sleeve but I am not sure what, like a reflection on the lens??? overall though I like the photo - well done.
