Hey Everyone,
I have been around for awhile, but this is my first post. We just order a cheap Smith-Vector kit off of eBay, and here are pictures from our first shoot. These pictures are just of my kids, boy are they used to have a camera in their face. Please let me know what you think, and be honest...I'm a big boy. Thanks!

Your kids are great. Both of them.
Now about the pictures. Hmmm...the sharpness I think is not a very good one. And sometime a very shallow DOF is not so good.
Personally I like much 4,5 and 6.

Defintely stick with the color for the kids! I agree I like #4 I love seeing the energy and life in a child thats shown in a Photograph. Good luck with the new lights.

For studio light photos they seem soft and underexposed to me. They lack contrast. Posing and composition is good. I especially like #3 - the eyes are great. The last one is good but seems flat to me. They all need some snap.

I agree they seem underexposed, try stepping the ouput up on the key light and leave the fill light the same. That will help with the exposure and the contrast.
Nice looking kids.

Thanks for the help guys. Right now, all I have is three constant lights, one with no umbrella coming from the top, and one on each side with umbrella reflectors. Should I get a flash unit? I am very green about all this studio lighting stuff. I do have a Sigma 500 Super DG, could I use that? Thanks.
