I took this shot just after sundown on a recent vacation. Not to sway any comments, but I personally like this image because of the reflected colors in the water on the rock and the serenity of the ocean. Makes me feel like I am there again..except for the mosquitoes.
There was very little post processing done. Just a little sensor dust removed.
25s exposure with ND filter.
let me know what you think.

You could have captioned ths thread as "Volcanic Hot Spring Lake in Iceland at Sunset" and I would have believed it.
The point being, the waves turn into a steamlike fog and because of long exposure with the aid of ND filter, the distinctness of the color of sky is lost in the reflection that there is little correlation between the sky and the body of water.
Then again, that is my opinion and I was not actually there to take the picture or to share the experience (the mosquitoes I gladly pass). As you note, if the picture makes feel like being there again, then you have captured what you saw in the scene.
Beautiful colors, especially the rocks and the sky.

That is a good point. I had not put too much thought into the caption. Nor did I think to capture a shot that was uniquely a beach on Kauai. I was going for more of a mood.
I appreciate your comments. Sometimes you forget about the context that only you know about when presenting an image.

An interesting point above. I like all the reflections out of each individual rock pool though.
