I don't have any photos, sorry! That's what I need help with. I am going to be in that general area next weekend and was hoping to go take some shots. Problem is, I've only heard of this place and am not sure if it's worth the trip. Plus, I heard that you may not be able to get in close to the planes. Has anyone been out there and seen it first hand? And if so, does anyone know how to actually get in to shoot the planes? Maybe I can get lucky and find the guy who's brother works security over there! ;)
Any help/information/pics would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I was just there 2 weeks ago doing a military charter flight. Interesting place.:p Not much there besides the airport and a federal penetentry. I'm a mechanic for an airline that does alot of these charters so I had access to the ramp. Anyway, there are many planes in storage there but unless you can get on the ramp you probably won't see much. It's quite a large facility. Plus, I can tell you they don't take to kindly to camera's. Especially one's with long lens's. I managed to snap off a few before someone starting yelling....NO PICTURES!
Here's a few I got: Victorville, CA (http://gcerasoli.smugmug.com/gallery/507184)

Thanks for the info! I love the shot with the nose of the plane up close!
Too bad, I was hoping I could sort of wander between the airplanes and take pictures.

My Floks live near there. I wonder over quite a bit, never had any problem with security. I was there about 3 weeks ago and talked to a security person about getting out to take pics but he said it's an active airport of sorts so no open access. You can drive around the fence line but it does go for miles on smooth dirt. If you go to Mojave, the other side of the desert I think you can get a tour of the airliners there.

Gary C. that place looks like the training portion in the movie SWAT staring Sam Jackson and the Irish bloak that swears all the time. The ones you did get look pretty good.
Im not surprised to hear no pictures, most junk yards don't allow cameras at all. Not sure why, maybe they fear Safety inspectors or something. Thankfully SLR's are not the only camera so a powershot fits nicely in your pocket and palm of your hand. And the "law" comes by just place it to your ear as the go by if the see you have something. Muhahahhahaha

Powershots are great cameras. Sure compared to a 20D or Rebel XT they're not in the same league but they sure are the best of their class. I have a little A60 2.0 MP and its great! I still use film primarly but since January I've taken over 3500 pictures with that little powershot and wowzers the quality of it compared to my old Samsung 2.0 MP is like comparing a 20D to a A60.
I'll be buying a 20d or XT later this year but I'll probably be buying a A95 for my belt also cause you never know when you'll be at a junkyard or... bank and want to take some pictures. ;)
