... is a piece of marketing genius on Canon's part.
If the "rumors" and mock-ups are legitimate it seems Canon hit the mark.
Add IS to the already excellent lens, probably improve the optics further and likely market it for $1000-$1200 thanks to the upgraded hardware and the L pedigree. It lets them keep the 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM on the market as a "budget" lens. Brilliant.
They'll likely update the 180mm f/3.5L Macro to an IS model shortly as well and up the price on that too.
Plus even though I have a 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM (and I'm liking it more and more), I think the 15-85 IS will be a VERY interesting lens to have, in terms of compactness and focal range for a one-lens quick-n-dirty solution for many. If they offer the 7D with a 15-85IS kit lens, I'll be snatching that up.
