Hey,
Nice shots, good technique, but your composition is lacking (alot).
Riders like to look at photos and remeber situations where they have been doing the same thing and get pumped on riding, and to get them pumped for the next time.
look at some of these;

to get the idea.

Thanks for the honest C&C, thats what I need.
There are some nice shots even tho most of them are staged (not competition)

You must be kidding rightI was nano seconds away from posting this same reply!! wow, just wow!

images wise, I think the first few are solid, a little too flashed maybe in that they don't feel that well balanced vs ambient. Either tone down the flash 1/3 FEC or so or in post, add a layer mask, levels, and just bring your mids up a fuzz. The last few are solid in technique, as mentioned, but lack impact. You can obviously shoot and I assume, know the mtb scene (seems like so many ride and shoot...not at the same time though), so just think of your images from the pov of the rider and I think the comp will fall into place.

Thanks for posting again. Hey what camera did you use???:rolleyes::lol:

Yeah, I'm going to go with the trend here man. I feel like these shots are all way too centred, and too zoomed in on the rider. I would suggest zooming out and getting some more bg in them. Otherwise, the captures are good

Cheers, much appreciated.
I cropped most of the shots little bit so I need to check if I can crop them better and adjust the levels. Need to do some research before the next time to get some framing ideas. Oh, I dont ride, I just like to shoot anything with action :)

Camera? Just some solar powered P&S that did not work as it was cloudy. No lens attached

get lower if you can, maybe zoom out, or scoot back a little to show off the surroundings a bit.

I'd move towards the corners - get in close and pan the rider to show some movement.

I like them. But this /\ confuses me....

Maybe zoom out....get in close.... scoot back....mover towards???? Guess i'm not getting the point. I have found that most bike riders would like a nice clean picture, sure bell and whistles are nice.

I do some 5k's, i'd buy ANYTHING if i could find someone that took pictures.

Good stuff Vesa. Crops are pretty subjective so there really isn't a right or wrong way. You would be pretty hard pressed to find a whole bike pictured in any of my shots so you know where I stand on crops.

Mountain biking and xcross is starting up in two weeks and I can't wait to shoot some new stuff. Again very well done.

I liked 5,7 and 8 the best. Not sure if it was composition of the shot or better colors? Maybe it was the lens?? SO....what was that lens : )

Bit confusing comment but thanks anyways ;)

If I was a rider, IŽd like to have pretty tight crops of me jumping or getting a bit sideways and then some snapshotish kind of pics that shows more bg so that I could remember that cool place.

Thanks Danny. These are tighter crops than those I posted over week ago. I simply didnt like the bg on this track. I also prefer tight crops so I can see riders eyes and emotions. I know there is room to improve so I need to be carefull where to shoot, angles etc.
If you ever manage to take some MTB pics, please post some. I would be interested to see what is your vision of this sport

I think the tighter crops have a place. More of an "action portrait" sort of thing. Variety in a series would be nice, but I really dug these shots personally. I love seeing the intensity of the riders eyes and where they are focused.
