Hi All, Just new here, found my way "at last " into digital photography
A wee question for the experts , I am looking to take action shots at local race circuits and need Insurance to be able to go where the experts are, Closer to the action.
Do any of you do this and can you direct me to an Insurance company that will cover all my needs
I am informed I need £2 million cover to go into race circuits within the barriers, closer to all the action.

Thanks

Rab

I carry 3rd party liability insurance for my sailing work.

I enquired about cover from local brokers and all of them either quoted ridiculous sums or refused to contemplate it at all. Eventually I found the RYA had a deal with an insurance company that is very reasonable.

Luckily the sailing schools that I work for are expected to cover me unless they are able to prove gross negligence on my part. This means that my cover is designed as a fail safe.

You may find that professional photographers associations offer similar deals, attractive enough that joining becomes worth the expense.

At many UK race circuits, you'll need closer to £5M worth of public liability insurance.

However, just because you have the insurance, doesn't mean you'll get trackside. The only way to get trackside is to have a legitimate reason for being there i.e. you are representing a publication. Having public liability insurance doesn't give you the right to go trackside.

Simon.
