Every year I go to the annual Friesian Keuring a breed inspection, it is much like dog confirmation. I love taking photos of these gorgeous horses. This is a Dutch breed in which the judges fly in from the Netherlands once a year all over North America to be judged.

I saw one of these for the first time a few weeks ago...man what a majestic animal. He was a stallion & his head was held so high he appeared not to have a wither similar to your photos. It was almost hyena like from muscle.

Karen, yes! And I fell in love with them as well, Kroozergirl. However, I can't afford such a beautiful breed, you lucky girl! :D

Well if you buy them when they are babies, the price is not as bad:),but still expensive compared to the average horse. Then you spend just as much money training them ;)

I believe they are used more for pulling than riding?? Or maybe I should say they were bred to be a pulling horse? Absolutely beautiful animal. The grey horse that the bad knight rides in the final battle inside the cathedral was an Andalusian I think??? Also a beautiful animal!!

Wow I am seriously envious! Can't imagine how much that must have cost you. But worth every penny! And now you can take all the shots that you want!

Karen, In the past this breed has been used largely as a carriage horse, but now they breed them lighter and are used for all sorts of stuff, Dressage, which I do, is really popular with them now.
