Leica's planning a webcast announcing new models on Sept. 9. Hmm, 9/9/09, think it could be an M9?

Who wants the M9 brochure?
I'm hosting it directly, here:

Enjoy! :)
...and yes, it confirms the X1 as well.

Now that is sweeeet. Looks like I'm going to be a lot lighter in the wallet in a few months. I was going to get a 5DII but the M9 is now the camera I'm saving for and a 35 1.4 asph

If the price is right, I'll be all over it... Time to reconsider that 50mm f/1.1 Nokton after all!

I respectfully submit you should concentrate on the 35mm f2 instead. I had a 35 1.4 Asph. and upgraded to the f2......better lens. Sharper, smoother, better contrast, flatness of field, more of the famous "leice image" quality. Same with the 50 1.4 vs. the 50 f2. The smaller lens is simply a superior pice of glass. With the ease of ISO adjustabilty on the digital M series you really shouldn't loose a lot of low light shots with the f2 lenses as opposed to the f1.4s.
Then with the $$$ you save on the f2, let yourself be really blown away by the M- 24 f2.8 Asph. lens. By far my favorite of all I own. Indescribably good !
I think the M9 will change the whole full-frame market. All of our prayers have been answered. Can't wait....mine's on order

Heres a company that designs cameras that can use lenses that are 40 + years old. Thats a real commitment to those that are already in the system. Instead of going for the money they went to support their loyal customer base. What a concept.
I think its probably going to be in the 1DsMkIII range (OUCH) but you will be able to give the camera to your great grandchildren and it will probably be worth as much if not more than what you paid for it.

CONGRATS and thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll just get the 24 instead.

It seems when you buy Leica you buy a stairway to heaven and unparalleled skills. Guess who wrote these (answer below):
"Thank goodness, the M9 has no mode to put moving images up on the rear LCD as you shoot. This would be inconceivably stupid for the LEICA photographer, even if popular with lesser men. The LEICA photographer's attention never leaves his subject, and certainly would never be fixed on an LCD while out shooting."
"When you shoot the LEICA, you know your photos are perfect. The Leica man never wastes his shooting time looking back at what he just shot; his eyes are always looking for his next great photo. The Leica man is part of the action, not a huddled drone off in the corner."
"Lesser men don't understand the simple brilliance of the LEICA, just as a dog doesn't understand calculus or the brilliant designs of Ive or Rams. There have always been those who appreciate elegance and purpose, and those who never will."
"Simplicity is brilliance. This simplicity allows the Leica photographer to bag 10 award-winning photos in less time than others take to find a hidden menu item, or try to rescue their mistakes later on a computer from a lesser camera."
"Men who can't comprehend genius will always be able to find ways in which the LEICA is different from lesser cameras, and turn these differences into criticism. Anyone can always find something negative to say about anything. That is not important. "
Yep, guessed right: http://kenrockwell.com/leica/m9.htm

Oh god I want to projectile vomit. Preferably in such a way that it lands on KR.
I take solace in the visual image of KR lying in a puddle of my sick. He deserves no less.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing "possibly" about it. He *is* racist. Or at least willfully ignorant, which is not an excuse. His use of the word "Oriental" is clearly pejorative and he has to devote an entire separate page to justify his racism, while in reality what he is implying is something along the lines of "those slanty-eyes can't make cameras better than us Aryan folks because they squint too much."

Tell me about it :/
And we have a local store here who preaches KR is the photography -god- of the internet :/ They tell people to go there to learn about photography

Let's not get too carried away. KR is just a blabbering idiot most of the time. Keep in mind that most of his musings are to be taken somewhat tongue-in-cheek as well.
Personally, I can't really read anything he writes, but it is entertaining forum fodder.
