I have one of those and it won't fit my 1DsMkII for some reason :)

Although my 100-400 will fit the XL-2 witht he adapter.

For really wide I have my 3x wide angle lens for the XL-2 as well. It seems to be about the same as a 24-70 would on my 1DsMkII.

The XL-2 is a 12x crop sensor so 4.2mm = 50.4mm

Ah, but it would fit, somehow, I guess, but it might be 'slightly soft' in the corners. :D

Actually it would be black in the corners (and most of the frame), the XL lens mount opening is considerably smaller then the EF mount opening.

So it's suitable for night-time photography? ;)

Wow. I followed this link and saw that the 4.2mm is equivalent to about a 40mm (in 35 mm format). Wow, my 20D has abaout a .625 capture factor (the sensor captures about .625 of the scene that 35mm film captures. Some of you like to call it a 1.6 crop factor; to me it's a 0.625 capture facture due to the smaller sensor size. Anyway that's another 50 threads). So, this little puppy has a capture factor of about 0.1. That's an itty bitty little sensor. Aren't they making high-end video cameras with sensors larger than the size of a hole-punch?

Ahhh. I just saw the sensor size: 440,000 pixel CCD, and 1.68 megapixel still capture. Still seems awefully small.

Yeah but it only needs to capture for TV. Even decent HDTV isn't exactly high resolution when compared to what our cameras do. 1.68 is just fine.

Yeah it's got three 1/3" CCDs.. small by DSLR standards..

Remember the 3 sensors may be small, but it does 30 frames (60 interlaced) per second and the buffer and batteries are measured in hours not frames.

I also get two framing formats and stereo audio.

Take that 1DM2 :) :) :) 8)

The final resolution is 720x480... weak compared to 1DMK2
