As you may already know, I'm not a fan of the canned crop ratio, but I assume you have your reasons. That said, there's a lot to like with these with #1 and #3 being my favorites (especially with a different crop ;)). I also like the exposure and color you're getting with these. They look pretty nice on my laptop. Even the last one being side/back lit, the faces aren't hidden by shadows.

Thanks for sharing Theron!

Regards,
Jeff

Jeff, I know that you aren't a fan of the ratio crop at all but I do it for the website sales. Parents try to get different sizes and Zenfolio says that the size won't work and I lose the sale.:( That is the only reason.

Thanks for the comments!

Thanks for the comments! The Maxpreps ratio of 1600x2166 works fairly well if you must used a canned crop. Might be worth a try.

Very nice job getting the action... and I know what you mean about the size ratio, I crop mine the same way for the same reason.

Jeff,

Could you elaborate what you mean by "canned crop ratio" please for those of us who don't know?

Thanks!

Jeff,

No problem!

That's when you use the same crop format (such as 8:12) for every shot.

I know some have processed their shots for presentation in other mediums or places that might otherwise dictate that they use a uniform ratio, so I'm not going to say that it's not right to crop the way they have, just that it would (IMHO) present better here by cropping each shot individually based on the composition of that particular shot.

Personally, I like to present a shot here that is cropped in whatever way it looks best here. If I am going to print a shot a shot at say 8"x10", I would post process that separately from what I present on the web.

I realize that many choose not to or simply don't feel they have the time, but in offering C&C, I sometimes feel that a shot could be improved by a more judiscious crop rather than applying the same to each shot.

Since we are all here to learn, and I meant no disrespect toward Theron (from our exchanges in the past I know he takes it in the spirit in which it is offered) as I was pretty sure he had his reasons. I point it out more for those wanting to look at the shots and learn how to apply C&C to their own work. I do it all the time myself as we have some pretty astute posters here that are pretty good at picking up on little things that all add up to make our work the best it can be.

Cheers!
Jeff
