My question is I shoot everything in manual, when I set my f stop then zoom, it changes. Did I miss something in the book setting wise or is this a limitation to the G10. Will this be the same in the G11 I wonder?
I just took this on a recent road trip, PS was used on it.

Your point and shoot (like all point and shoots) has a variable aperture lens.

And yes, the G11 will be a variable aperture lens like all the rest. Hope that helps ya ;)

It also happens with variable zooms on DSLRs when shooting in manual mode..

I enjoyed reading and learning from that link but are there any more articles that give hints, tips or instructions on how to use my G9 other than just 'point & shoot'.
Cheers

You might take a look at Gordon Buck's blog. It has some really great info.

Sorry man, that's just how they work... You're not missing anything in the manual; there is nothing you can do to prevent this. Put it in AV mode at the largest aperture and it will stay as big as it can.

I have been so use to fixed aperture lens I never even thought about the variable, makes sense. Going from a 40D to G10 is going to be a learning experience.
I appreciate the assistance.
