Cliffside cougar

The wildlife continues to amaze me here in Yellowstone. This shot was taken across the canyon near Tower Falls. The cat stayed there for over 90 minutes ... and I have a majority of that on digital tape. This was done with a 20D/100-400 lens. Distance was approximately 1/4 mile.

thanks ... this was the rough edit, I just had to share the awesome experience. I'll pop in some contrast when I slow down and really take the time to process my images ... always time to process when I get home.

In the video footage you can clearly see porcupine quills in the cheek. Also in the footage was his/her almost falling off the face. Once I have time to process the digital video I'll rip some more images to share.

That's a pretty healthy looking cat. And from that distance the shot is very, very good.

I've come accross a few mountain lions while hiking in the woods and would have liked to seen them at 1/4 mile rather than 100 feet!!

What agreat shot!! I was in Ys at Tower Falls in 2004, but didn't see anything like this. I guess maybe I wasn't looking far enough away!!. Thanks for sharing.
