finally managed to get circular star trails while on holiday in Turkey. The foreground are ancient Lycian ruins in Patara, South Turkey

thanks for the comments. I was getting really envious of everyone else's star trail pics after they were using the startrails programme. I use a Mac so that programme doesn't work for me.

Sure drigo, I actually previously posted it on another post a while back, here it is ......
1. Go to File> Scripts> Load Files into Stack
2. In the box that opens tick the small box that says Create Smart Objects after Loading Layers
3. Choose the files you want and press Open.
4. Once image has loaded go to Layer> Smart Objects> Stack Mode> Maximum
Hey Presto you're done. Be aware this can take a while to do. 54 images was only a couple of minutes, but when i stacked 150 it seemed to take forever
As soon as i remember where i found this action on the web i'll post a link to the page, I'm not taking any personal credit for this.

That looks really nice. Did you illuminate the foreground in anyway?
Let's say you have a lens with a maximum aperture of 1.8, then you wouldn't have to use such a high ISO setting to get the same results?

Cheers! Its taken quite a few failed attempts to get this photo, so i'm really pleased its been received well.
Oliviero the foreground was actually illuminated by the moon. I had tried the previous night to get pictures at ISO 100 but they came out far too dark. So while my better half was still receptive to the idea of being out and taken photos i just ramped the ISO up to 1600 to be sure of a result. Unfortunately the maximum aperture on the 10-24mm Tamron is 3.5
