The photographer side of me likes the material and the way it is presented. The firearm instructor side of me dislikes the opposing shotgun shells.

My first thought was slugs up, buckshot down, but those don't look like slugs.

Agreed. Reminds that I need to do some more "still life" photography.

I like the shots and the shotgun.
My on duty load up is 4 buckshot in the chamber and and a sidesadle of slugs.

That's my all time favorite shotgun.
The photos are nice as well. Number two is great.

Why are some shells upturned?

ConDigital, some people do that in order to distinguish the different types of load. I.E. upturned is buckshot and downturned is slug.
