I finally got around to installing CHDK. I think it is great. I really like the auto bracketing. Scripting seems great too. What are some of the great creative ways you use this amazing hack?

I was using the auto bracketing a lot this weekend. I also used the scripting to do an auto bracket shot of myself. With the camera on a tripod and a delay set for the script, it worked great. I also got a great dusk shot with the longer shutter seeds. It was almost dark and I was able to use ISO 100.

traildad,
you are further then I am. On my SX10 I use the remote for my shutter, I use the Zebra, RAW, Grids. I also use it on my SD600.

I use raw in DNG format that enables me to use PSE 7, the Auto ISO adjust is helpful, I always use the battery % and additional screen info available, some of my older cameras didn't don't show shutter speed, aperture or ISO being used. The manual control of flash output has also come in handy. My older SD series cameras didn't have any manual control so I do use CHDK for that.

hnikesch,
I do the same with RAW that you do, I use Corel PSP X2. I am starting to use the manual flash also. I am now trying the lighting script now but I am slow. There are so any things to do with it, it is great. I also use the SDM. This has all the scripts setup, you change the settings, and that is where I am slow.

using 1/10,000 shutter speed while using the built in flash and a macro adapter makes stopping water a joy.

using 1/10,000 shutter speed while using the built in flash and a macro adapter makes stopping water a joy.

Can you tell me since Canon limits the shutter speed to 1/500 when using the built-in flash popped up, when you are using CHDK and set the shutter speed while in manual mode around 1/1250 does the intensity of the built-in flash begin to diminish or weaken?

I havent formatted one of my cards with the CHDK program yet and really would like to know how the shutter speeds higher then 1\500 effects the flash intensity with the CHDK firmware.

When using the Speedlite 270EX the shutter speed is limited to 1/250 !

Regards & Thanks for any replys ! :D

The main reason I started using CHDK on my Sd 900 was to get shutter speed control to blur water, the I got the SD 990 but i still use CHDK for the features mostly raw for the night shots (I never seem to have a tripod)

Need to find the time to play with scripts

Between CHDK and my new ND filters I am still getting used to keeping track of the new and different settings I need to use. I do a manual white balance when using the ND filters, then I need to remember to reset it when they are off. I wonder if I can make a script that will reset things back to default or some standard settings. I am looking forward to trying some star shots using long shutter speeds, low ISO and RAW without dark subtraction every shot. I am really hoping to get a lot less noise in low light shots.
