How good would it be if the 1D Mark IV if it included Radio Popper radio ETTL technology in it and there were some new (backwards compatible) Canon Speedlites that had RP wireless stuff in them to coincide with the 1D Mark IV release.

Syl Arena suggested the idea in his blog at http://pixsylated.com/2009/07/syl-arena-canon-speedlite-wishlist/

How good would this be?

We've seen that Canon is on the front foot with the inclusion of wireless control in the 7D. It makes perfect sense for the 1D series to step this up even further.

I've only been requesting it for the last 4 years...

That would be nice. They could even sell little hotshoe adapters for older EX flashes to make them compatible with the wireless ETTL sytem as well.

have fun getting that device passed internationally without a $500+ dollar increase in price.

They already have "domestic" and "imported" versions of cameras (I know, means nothing other then warranty) so why not have different cameras for different regions? Like TV's with NTSC/PAL...

The USA version needs to pass with the FCC. And since a small company such as Radio Popper and do it, I'm pretty sure Canon might have a chance ;)

Canon is behind Nikon in this arena, well behind the 'forefront'. I'm not complaining though as my 7d is on it's way to me :D

Everyone has their own needs I guess, for me a PW compatible system would be better since so many pro line strobes have adopted built in PW systems already. Probably there would be more call for something that would work with the Canon speedlights and ETTL. I do think it would be possible to have hot shoe adaptors to make the older speedlights work with such a system. It would be much more desirable than any goofy IR system already available.
