I recently bought a Canon SX10 IS. I set the mode dial to "AUTO". I compose a shot and "RAISE THE FLASH" is indicated in the LCD screen. I raise the flash and the mode changes from "Auto" to "NIGHT SNAPSHOT". Is this normal?? Also, when I raise the flash, nothing appears on the LCD screen when I press the flash button.

I just checked my SX10 and when mine is in auto......the flash icon changes to the "auto flash" symbol, and with my SX10 in auto mode, I do not get the "night snapshot" indication.

Now, when I put my SX10 into the "night snapshot" mode....I get that indication.

Are you certain you have your SX10 in the green "auto" mode, as there is a "night snapshot" mode as well?

Wait till you have it change from ISO 100-200 to ISO 125... then try to figure how to get ISO 125 on manual setting.....
