I just bought a G3 and had to return it because of a hot LCD pixel.

My new one is fine on the LCD side, but I notice that on long exposures, there is a hot CCD pixel in the same spot on all images.

How common are these CCD hot pixels on the G3?

Don't know how common these are, but I just returned mine too because of a white/stuck/hot/dead pixel.
I guess it is hard to get all 4 Mio pixels working... and both Canon and the vendor seem to be most familiar with the issue.

Curious, did your show up in all situations, or just certain long exposures?

I only realized that I had a dead pixel after taking night shots, and that star at the same point in all pictures didn't seem right. After that, I could see it even on the LCD. It only showed up in very dark areas, independent from the length of exposure. Not noticeable in "normal" pictures.

I've just noticed a group of 3 or 4 stuck on blue (maybe enlarged by the jpeg process?). I've had my G3 since Xmas so I may have to return it under warranty with all the aggro that involves. Once you know it's there you can always see it, and not just in dark pctures.
Could more people check theirs? Is it expecting too much for the CCD to be perfect?
Take a picture in darkness, and then in your photo prgram increase the brightness and contrast to make them easier to see. When I did this it revealed one more blue and one red - though these are not easy to spot normally.

Now my beloved G3 is gone for 9 days, and the vendor claims they haven't received it. Afterthoughts... maybe one stuck pixel isn't that bad... considering that I paid return shipping, insurance, don't have a camera, vendor says they didn't get it, and if they finally do they will probably charge me again anyway, and send me a heavily used refurbished p.o.j. I shouldn't have... just venting...
