only mystery is what kind of bird he is.i was suprised at how close he let me get. taken in S.E.Michigan. thanks for looking.

Looks sort of like the Martins we have in our back yard, they let us get extremely close as well. However, I thought Martins were typically all black?

i just googled purple martins,and to me it didnt really look to much like this one,but thanks anyways.

thanks tupe. it does look like a barn swallow.thanks Leorooster i got within 5 feet before he took off.i just kept snapping with every step i took.and thanks to everyone else.

That's a sinister looking bird. Last time a bird looked at me like that it was a raven and it started attacking me for walking by its nest. Great picture though.

thanks cjm,he does kind of look sinister at that.i think its kind of strange that this little 5 inch bird let me get within 5 feet of him, and the big birds like the herons and egrets wont let you get within a 150 feet.something seems backwards about that
