The Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, AZ has an SR-71 on display. Under the airframe is a mock-up of the cockpit with a manequin dressed in a pressure suit but the instrument panel is printed on a sheet of plexiglass.

This was shot looking through the "panel" at the pilot figure:

That's pretty cool - have you thought about mirroring the image so the dials are facing our way?

Cool shot! I'd like to see one of the pilot in focus and the instrument panel blurred.http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Respect/respect-044.gif

I actually had not thought of that if for no other reason than I know it's supposed to be from "behind" the instruments. I'll have to try it and see what comes of it.

Good find!

Thanks...

Good one.

Appreciate it, thanks.

Thanks Muchly...

I tried getting the pilot in focus that but the distances involved gave nothing more than a haze over the pilot with utterly unrecognizable instruments. If I'd had a tripod with me, I'd have done it as a longer exposure at a correspondingly smaller aperture and gotten more of both in focus.

I really like what you have done here. Even the post processing and colors give it a feel of that era.

I know it's kind of an impressionistic image but I'm glad folks like it.

Thank you very, very much.

I didn't shoot a wide shot this time but I may have one from an earlier visit. I'll have to look in the archives.

Great shot.

Thank You :D

Sucks.

that you didn't have your tripod. Interesting concept and a pretty decent result too.

Like Dale used to say: Boo me or Cheer me but at least you know I'm here!

You know...I read the comment about mirroring it....and at first it struck me that it might work...but after thinking and revisiting...I'd leave it just the way you have it. Works pretty good just as it sits.

I agree because it shows it's not a reflection.
