Ive got a g10 and a water housing that i use for surf shots, but i can never get more than one barrell shot out of a wave, the sequence speed is so slow. I read in the manual it says 1.3 shots per second, mine is nowhere near that. i'm guessing this might have to do with settings? i have it set to raw and jpeg and auto focus usually on 1000 and f4, do you know if i changed these if i can get a faster sequence ? also what setting in manual focus is infinity?

thanks

When shooting both RAW and jpeg, the camera's having to send an awful lot of info through to the card, so what may well be worth checking is that your SD card is a decent quality, fast speed card, so that the camera can run full speed and not be 'bottle-necked' in performance whilst it waits for the card to accept that much data.

The other thing that can impare burst performance is if the camera's trying to lock on focus, and by the sounds of it, you've already thought of this seeing as you mentioned manual focus. When using manual focus, the camera won't search for focus between firing as such and it may help the camera with speed. To set your focus get it on MF and turn the wheel on the back. Infinity is when you reach past the bigger numbers and get that little '8' symbol on its side...

If that doesn't help much it may be worth just shooting RAW or jpeg alone and seeing how that helps. :)

Even if you do get 1.3fps, that is not fast enough for much anyway, so don't fret too much. Try video if you are missing the shots.

- Shooting RAW (& JPEG) it's only 0.7 fps. Use JPEG only.
- A class2 SD-Card should always be fast enough, as the writing speed of the G10 is the limiting factor and not the card itself.
- As said, MF would help.
- The fastest possible speed with the G10 is the scene mode ISO 3200 with continuous shooting activated (about 4.5 fps), but with less IQ, and it could be impossible in your lighting conditions to shoot with that high iso, even with f-stop 8 and the ND-filter enabled.

Can the settings from the scene mode, continuous shooting be duplicated manually and then adjusted to a shooter's preference with custom settings while maintaining the 4.x fps?

No. It's just an "undocumented" feature of this scene mode only.
