Just back from a wonderful week around the Applecross peninsula. We had 6 consecutive SUNNY days! :) The scenery was stunning and the Pass of the Cattle was an amazing driving experience. These 2 images were taken with the 24-70. Comments appreciated

I like both shots, however I have some suggestions.
The first shot would probably be better composed if 2/3 of the image was the waterfall and stream.
The second shot looks flat. Some PS work with Curves and some contrast adjustment might be able to help.

Let me say though that the subject is excellent, the shots are well executed, and I really like the first image. The water is blurred very nicely.

EDIT:
Though the more I look at the first shot the more I like it how it is. I think it is just unfortunate that the clouds were so dense. The flatness might be a result of the overcast skies as well.

I like both shots, but number two lacks something, contrast or something.

Contrary to what was posted earlier, I like number one as is, it looks like weather moving in over the pass! Great shot!

I like them both. #1 has too much clouds for me is the only issue, the greyness takes away from the river, IMHO.

Hi, Trevor.
I've been waiting for these shots and it's been worth the wait.
Applecross is beautiful country and you've captured some of that here.

Since you've asked for some comments, I think I would lose some of the sky on both shots (which would turn them into more of a panorama type shot) and perhaps use some contrast masking on the second.

I hope we're going to see some more of your stay in Applecross.
As I mentioned in an earlier post I intended to spend a few days in Applecross myself but decided to put my pennies into a 1D MKII.
I hope I made the right decision, it arrives tomorrow. :)

That 24-70L seems like a nice range for a walkabout lens......stop....I'm doing it again.

Well, I did look in the mirror

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions, I'll have a play.

Cameron, Great news about the 1D Mk2, I'm sure you'll love it. :)
I am sorting through the images at the moment. Trouble is, I also shoot with a Mini-DV camcorder, so I've got that to edit as well, including some footage of an otter in Loch Torridon - what a great place :D :D

Thanks for the nice remarks
Regards
Trevor

Love the first shot. Good balance between sky and burn. Second shot is well composed but would probably do with a wee bit of tweaking in 'Levels'.

All in all v nice. Must get across there again soon!!
