Got my Canon 2X Converter delivered this morning so I couldnt wait to test it with my 300mm f/2.8 prime at 600mm..
This was my first attempt with only a slight crop but still tack sharp at f5.6.. :)
ISO 400

Very nice clear shot, i can't stand sheep they're so ugly but not lambs, the shot is very clear and sharp.

Just looked at your blog Karl, 2 of those pictures were taken just half a mile from my house...;)

Very sharp indeed. Do you have a 1.4 TC, just wondering do you notice that it is any sharper or not. The fourth one is funny.

From all I've read about the 2X converter, I wouldn't have thought it to be that sharp, nice job!

The 300 f2.8 is one of the sharpest lenses in Canon's lineup. It it still very very good with the 1.4tc. I have used mine with the 1.4, the 2.0 and with both converters stacked. Still very good results. The 1.4 is definitely sharper than the 2.0 in my experiences but given the right conditions both will render superb results hooked onto this lens.

Nice shots. You'll get alot of enjoyment out of that setup.
