Hi, still learning to drive the 10D - impressed myself with AI Servo, set to center focus, shutter AE+ AF lock, 50mm NF lens. f6.3, ISO 100, 1/250th. I shot what I could of the game -not having a USM tele yet and avoiding high f numbers on account on the dirty sensor I haven't cleaned yet.

Still, this morning I think I got some useful practice... should it focus sharper? I include a 100% crop. EOS is certainly a better choice of gear for action - compared to last year's efforts with MF. I think this season's gonna be great!

I am no expert but I would like it to be clearer. Perhaps it is motion blur to be cured by a faster shutter. Hope you get better advice than mine.

I think it must be higher shutter speed, min 1000th for next week for sure... here is an action crop using a 50mm from the sidelines (!) - oh for a tele... easy to spot my twins..

Change your aperture to the widest it can be so you can get the highest shutter possible with your light.

and then, yes, you still want to be atleast 1/500 of higher in your shutter speed. So kick up your iso to 200 if you still want more. 200 is more than suitable.

That last pic was 1/320th f5.7 ISO100. I used a few different settings. I fit all the shots on one 1GB card using large jpg. As for f numbers, going to f16 and beyond isn't an option until I clean the sensor.

What's the biggest aperture/f stop you can get? 5.6?

you would want to shoot wide open.....

You shouldn't be thinking of stopping down,as someone mentioned earlier try for a min of 1/500

I just cleaned my sesor it was way too easy

Yesterday I bumped up the Tv and things went okay, most of the game was on the other side of the field though. Gotta get a tele..

Anyway, as they finished up, James got an Award, which must be important because it has golden arches on it! Steven was a bit upset - where was his? Here's the look when he thought it wasn't really his and that he'd have to share with his brother..:(
