I currently have a cheap Compaq CRT monitor that is much less bright than any other monitor I have seen. So, I am looking for a new crt monitor.

I am considering purchasing the Lacie monitor. Can any owners of this advise me as to how good the qulaity of text is reproduced?

Any other recommendations in this price range or a little below this price?

Other than photography work, I will be doing a lot of text reading on the monitor.

Is there only 1 model in their range?

I know nothing particular about that monitor, but Lacie do have a reputation for decent quality, graphics oriented equipment.

I too have a crappy CRT, but I'm not replacing it until I've got the cash in my pocket for a decent LCD. Seeing as a decent 19" can be had for around $350 nowadays and the prices are doing nothing but drop that won't be too far off.

I have the 22" LaCie blue for about a year, trouble free. What I like is the absolute ability to calibrate it for real, because each of it's RGB guns can be adjusted separately in firm ware. I use the Monaco kit. I like the glossy high contrast of a CRT. Just can't get this contrast on any LCD, yet.
I figured this will be the last CRT I buy, because the world is moving toward LCD. It should last 3-5 years. By that time there will not be any more good CRTs.
But, equal size LCD is $600-$1,000 more, less contrast, less calibration friendly. But, LCDs are easier on the eyes. If I had big $$, I'd buy the Apple LCD. The screen ratio is better for 2x3 ratio dSLR images than the 3x4 ratio of most monitors. I'd buy another one of these. Just one users' opinion. J.

Lacie is the end all, do all. Chose it over the Apple LCD. I own the Lacie 321. A little different than what you are asking, but the quality is first rate!
