brought back great memories of my 93 RX7. If I only knew where all my motor oil went at the end of the month... Damn apex seals!

It probably went into the motor, as it is designed to do from the factory with the oil metering pump.

probably not, rotarys maybe simple as engines but damn they burn oil like a sonnuvabeast

As I said, that they aren't 'burning oil.' They are engineered from the factory to inject motor oil from the oil pan into the engine via a oil metering pump to lubricate the inner seals.
